After a successful week at the US Cross Country Ski National Championships in Alaska, the Northern Michigan University (NMU) nordic ski team is set to compete in the Ariens Nordic CCSA Invite in Brillion, Wisconsin. The event is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, and Sunday, January 19.
The competition will begin with a 15km individual classic race on Saturday. This race serves as a qualification event for the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) NCAA. On Sunday, participants will compete in a 4x5km mixed-gender relay.
Results from Saturday's classic race and Sunday's mixed relay will be made available online.
Reflecting on last year's performance at the Ariens Invite, NMU's Luke Fricker secured first place in the men's individual 7.5k classic race. Mathias Haugen finished fourth in the same event. In the women's category, Henriette Nilssen, Flisa Ravald, and Victoria Dybwad took fourth through sixth places respectively.
The NMU team excelled in last year's relay event as well, capturing three of the top four positions. The relay was led by Fricker and Kolibri Drobish who claimed first place.
