Freshman forward Ryan Duguay has been recognized as the CCHA Rookie of the Week following his performance against the No. 12 Minnesota State Mavericks.

On Friday, Duguay played a key role in leading the 'Cats to a 3-2 victory by scoring his first career hat-trick. This achievement ended an eight-game losing streak for the team and earned them their first conference points since they defeated the Mavericks in a shootout in Mankato. Notably, this was the first time since October 7, 2022, that the Mavericks allowed a three-goal performance. It also marked Northern Michigan University's first win against a ranked opponent since their CCHA semifinal victory over Michigan Tech on March 11, 2023.

Duguay continued his strong performance by scoring again on Saturday against the Mavericks. He now leads his team in goals after a weekend where he led all CCHA rookies with four goals, four points, six shots, two power-play goals (PPGs), one game-winning goal (GWG), and maintained a +1 rating.

The NMU CCHA Players of the Week for the 2024-25 season include defenseman Tynan Ewart on January 2 and October 21, goaltender Ryan Ouellette on January 2, and rookies Ryan Duguay on January 13, Will Diamond on November 18, and Grayden Slipec on November 4.
