Northern Michigan University (NMU) Athletics had a busy weekend with various teams competing in basketball, hockey, and wrestling.

On Thursday, the women's basketball team secured a 68-64 victory over Michigan Tech. The Wildcats took an early lead of 17-6 after the first quarter and maintained control throughout the game. Abi Fraaza led the team with 13 points in her first game of the season, while CJ Romero achieved a career-high six rebounds.

In contrast, the men's basketball team faced an 88-65 defeat against Michigan Tech. The Huskies dominated the first half with impressive shooting percentages: 71.4% from the field and 60% from three-point range. Marcus Tomashek and Ty Fernholz were key players for Michigan Tech, contributing a combined total of 37 points in the first half alone. Despite this loss, Dylan Kuehl stood out for NMU with 20 points on 66.7% shooting and six rebounds.

The NMU hockey team had mixed results over the weekend against No. 12 Minnesota State. On Friday, they broke their eight-game losing streak with a narrow 3-2 win thanks to Ryan Duguay's hat-trick—his first career achievement of this kind. However, Saturday saw them fall to Minnesota State with a significant 6-1 loss despite another goal from Duguay.

Women's wrestling achieved success on Saturday by defeating Alma College in duals with a score of 32-16. This result brought their dual record to an even three wins and three losses for the season.
