NMU ski team competes in US XC Ski National Championships

The NMU men's nordic ski team concluded their participation in the 2025 United States Cross Country Ski National Championship with the 1.4k freestyle sprint event. Kristoffer Karsrud and Luke Fricker led the team by advancing to the bracket rounds.

Kristoffer Karsrud had a strong qualifying run, finishing third overall and first among conference skiers with a time of 2:44.71, just 1.20 seconds behind the fastest qualifier. He won his quarterfinal bracket with a time of 2:48.11 but narrowly missed advancing to the finals by .38 seconds, clocking in at 2:57.77. Karsrud finished as the top conference skier for the day.

Luke Fricker also performed well, finishing inside the top-20 during qualifying at 19th overall and third among conference skiers with a time of 2:49.88. In his bracket, he placed third and missed advancing to the semifinals by one spot, posting a time of 2:49.28 and moving up to second among CCSA racers alongside teammate Karsrud on the conference podium.

Adrik Kraftson completed NMU's participation by finishing 54th overall and eighth among conference skiers with a time of 2:57.38.

Jonathan Clarke and Hendrik Peterson did not start (DNS) in this event.

The team now prepares for their next competition on January 17th and 18th at Brillion, Wisconsin, for the Ariens Nordic CCSA invite, marking their first conference race of the season.
