The Northern Michigan men's basketball team achieved a 78-70 victory over Grand Valley State, marking their seventh consecutive win. The game, held in Allendale, Michigan, was characterized by numerous ties and lead changes. The Wildcats secured the lead with eight minutes remaining and maintained it until the end.
Dylan Kuehl led Northern Michigan with 21 points, shooting 7-13 from the field and making four three-pointers. He also contributed four rebounds, three steals, and a block. Sam Privet added 17 points, primarily in the first half, and grabbed eight rebounds. Julien Smith scored 15 points while Brian Parzych provided seven assists for the team.
Grand Valley's Kaden Brown matched Kuehl's scoring output with 21 points for the home team. Northern Michigan shot 43.6% from the floor compared to Grand Valley's 41.1%, leading in rebounds (39-30) and assists (16-11).
Northern Michigan started strong with five players hitting three-pointers early on. The first half featured nine ties and eleven lead changes before Grand Valley went on a run to lead at halftime by two points.
In the second half, Northern Michigan again relied on three-point shooting to build an early lead but faced a brief setback when Grand Valley took a two-point advantage. However, key plays by Kuehl helped Northern regain control.
The Wildcats finished strong from the free throw line to secure their win. This victory improved their record to 10-2 overall and kept them undefeated in conference play alongside Ferris State.
