The Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's nordic ski team participated in the first day of the US Cross Country Ski National Championships, competing in the 10k individual start event held in Anchorage, Alaska. A total of 181 skiers from various age groups took part in the race.
Henriette Nilssen led both NMU and Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) conference skiers by finishing 38th overall and 19th among Under-23 women with a time of 26:41.2. Victoria Dybwad followed closely, securing second place among NMU and CCSA skiers, finishing 43rd overall and 22nd among U23 competitors with a time of 25:55.3.
Pearl Harvey was the next NMU skier to finish, placing fifth among conference skiers, 19th in the senior age group, and 55th overall with a time of 27:22.4. Kolibri Drobish completed her race at 28:18.3, ranking eighth among conference opponents and 35th among U23 skiers, finishing 81st overall. Jordan Parent finished six places behind Drobish at a time of 28:36.8, ranking tenth among conference skiers and 37th among U23 participants for an overall position of 87th.
Ella Niznik rounded out NMU's performance by finishing in the 129th position overall and placing as the 50th U23 skier with a time of 30:05.2.
The NMU team is set to compete again on Saturday in the upcoming event featuring a classic sprint over a distance of 1.4 kilometers.
