The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team is set to host Northland College this Saturday, December 21, at 2 p.m. The Wildcats, currently on a four-game winning streak, recently secured a victory against No. 25 Upper Iowa with a score of 79-76. Dylan Kuehl was recognized as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in that game.
Northland College enters the match without a win this season, standing at 0-9. Despite their struggles, they will aim to challenge NMU in the upcoming game.
Fans can tune into the game on 100.3 The Point with Casey Ford providing commentary. Updates will also be available via NMU's social media channels.
Dylan Kuehl leads NMU with an average of 15.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He has consistently performed well throughout the season and surpassed the milestone of 1,000 career points earlier this year.
NMU's head coach Matt Majkrzak is guiding the team through his sixth season and aims for another successful NCAA Tournament run after back-to-back appearances in previous seasons. Last year, NMU won both the GLIAC Tournament title and regular season conference title under Majkrzak's leadership.
This weekend’s match will mark the continuation of a long-standing rivalry between Northern Michigan and Northland College dating back to their first encounter in 1923-24.
In addition to preparing for Saturday’s game, NMU looks back on its notable preseason exhibition against Michigan State held on October 13th at Superior Dome Showdown where they faced off against a top-tier Division I team.
