The NMU women's swim and dive team maintained their second-place standing after the second day of competition at the Calvin Invite in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The team accumulated a total of 1158.5 points, trailing behind GVSU with 1339.5 points and ahead of Findlay, which has 1014 points.
The team's performance included eight podium finishes across eight events, with seven swimmers achieving NCAA provisional cuts. The finals results are available for review.
The competition will conclude tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m.
In the finals for Event 25, the NMU A team secured third place in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 7:36.94. Swimmers Elena Curti and Anika Wright achieved NCAA Division II B cuts during this event.
For Event 11, the NMU A team finished second in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:41.53, also earning an NCAA Division II B cut.
In individual events, Elena Curti placed fifth in the 100 Fly (Event 13) with a time of 56.63 seconds. In Event 15, Anika Wright took fourth place in the 400 IM with an NCAA Division II B cut time of 4:27.61.
Carlotta Santi finished third in Event 17's 200 Free, narrowly missing an NCAA D-2 B cut by just .03 seconds. Zoe DeKievit claimed second place in Event 19's 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:03.83.
Camilla Carbone and Mia Strazny secured second and third places respectively in Event 21's 100 Backstroke, both achieving NCAA D2-B cuts.
Abigail Harned finished third in Event 23's one-meter diving competition with a score of 406.90 points.
Preliminary qualifiers from NMU included several strong performances across various events as they prepared for final rounds on day three.
