Northern Michigan University's junior guard, Jacy Weisbrod, has been recognized as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the conference on Monday.
Weisbrod played a crucial role in leading the Wildcats to two home victories, bringing their season record to 4-0. Northern Michigan University (NMU) secured an 85-69 win against Minnesota Crookston on Friday and followed with an 80-51 victory over Bemidji State. Hailing from La Crosse, Wisconsin, Weisbrod scored 26 points against the Golden Eagles, shooting 10-16 (62.5%) from the field and making six out of nine three-point attempts (66.7%), marking the highest number of threes in a game among conference teams this season. She continued her strong performance with 27 points on 11-20 (55.0%) shooting from the field and four out of eleven three-pointers (36.7%) in the win over Bemidji.
Her scores of 26 and 27 points rank as the second and third best scoring performances in the GLIAC this season. Weisbrod is currently third in the conference with an average of 16.5 points per game and leads all players with a total of 13 three-pointers.
The Wildcats will travel to Minnesota this weekend for games against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday and St. Cloud State on Sunday.
