FOIA Request to Manistee County Election Division Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Michigan News have sent a request under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. to the Manistee County Election Division. The request specifically seeks records pertaining to the pre-election testing of voting machines in electronic format.

The requested records should include details such as the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (pass or fail). These records are crucial for us to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public regarding the integrity of voting machines used in elections.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have also requested a fee waiver due to our role in disseminating information as media professionals.

We will continue our efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in local government affairs and keep you updated with any responses received from the Manistee County Election Division regarding this request.
