The Northern Michigan cross country team is set to compete in the Midwest Regional Championship on November 9 in Romeoville, Illinois. The event, hosted by Lewis University and the GLVC, will take place at 12:15 p.m. ET at the Lewis University Cross Country Course.

This marks the 27th consecutive regional championship appearance for Northern Michigan, which has finished in the top-13 for 12 straight seasons. The top three teams and top two individuals not on a qualifying team will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. Additionally, ten at-large teams and eight at-large individuals will advance. The Wildcats last participated in the national championships as a team in 2017.

In their last outing at the GLIAC Championships two weekends ago, Gianna Hoving secured a spot inside the top-10, earning All-GLIAC First Team honors while helping her team finish seventh. Hoving completed the 6K race with a time of 21:44.2, just shy of her personal best.

Last year at regionals, Northern Michigan finished ninth out of 32 teams—their first top-10 regional finish since 2017. Madi Szymanski led with a personal record time of 20:55.83, finishing twelfth overall and earning an All-Region accolade along with an at-large selection to the National Championships.

Gianna Hoving was next among Wildcats in forty-fifth place, followed by Skylar Grubb in fifty-eighth place.
