The Northern Michigan Track & Field team is set to compete in the GLIAC Championships in Allendale from May 1-3. The event will begin on Wednesday with four heptathlon events, featuring Natasha Nowakowski and Eva Zonca for the Wildcats. Events scheduled include the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m dash starting at 2 p.m., followed by long jump, javelin, and 800m on Thursday.

Thursday's schedule includes track preliminaries and field events starting at 2:30 p.m., with finals in the 3000m steeplechase and 10000m later that day. On Friday, field events commence at 10 a.m., followed by final races beginning at 11:10 a.m.

Jenny Ryan expressed optimism about the competition: "Everyone's excited about this opportunity and there's some good competition ahead. It will be exciting to see what we can do out there."

In preparation for the GLIAC Championships, the Wildcats recently achieved notable success at the St. Norbert Invite in Wisconsin. The team secured six wins, thirteen podium finishes, and eleven personal records. Beverly Harper led a sweep in the 400m with a time of 59.83 seconds, closely followed by Ciara Ostrenga and Emme Burrough.

Ellyse Wolfrath won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.09 seconds. Leah Root achieved victory in pole vaulting with a personal record of 3.71 meters. Talon Prusi claimed her first win in the 5000m race, while Baux Truckey triumphed in the 200m event.

The team's success continued in the relay events as well; Wolfrath teamed up with Jahtivya Williams, Ahna Larson, and Truckey to win the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.78 seconds.
