The Northern Michigan women's lacrosse team secured a victory against the Davenport Panthers in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Wildcats held a two-goal lead going into the final quarter and extended their advantage with three consecutive goals, eventually winning 12-7.

Senior Minnie Bittell and freshman Josie Lakosky led the scoring for Northern Michigan, each contributing three goals and two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Esposito made six saves during the match. Senior Kaitlyn Bridger added five ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one goal to her performance.

This win marks the third consecutive victory for the Wildcats, who have now won seven of their last eight games. Their overall record stands at 12-3, with a 3-1 record in GLIAC play. They are set to face Grand Valley State University on Sunday.

Bittell opened the scoring early with her 60th goal of the season from a free-position shot. Esposito's crucial save late in the first quarter allowed Lakosky to score shortly after. Goals by Bittell, Bridger, and Lakosky kept Northern Michigan ahead at halftime with a 6-4 lead.

Lakosky started strong in the second half with another goal before Davenport responded quickly. Bittell then scored again to extend Northern Michigan's lead further. Although Davenport had a free-position goal disallowed due to a violation, they managed another successful attempt just before the end of the third quarter.

Freshman Avery Lorinser and sophomore Laine Stanton increased Northern Michigan's lead early in the fourth quarter. Junior Camryn Mayer and sophomore Danielle Key completed the scoring for Northern Michigan, securing their 12-7 victory.

The Wildcats will continue their road trip as they prepare to play against Grand Valley State University Lakers on Sunday at noon.
