The NCAA Division II Women's Golf Committee has announced the selections for the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships. Maya Hunter from Northern Michigan University (NMU) has been chosen to compete as an individual.

The regional competition is scheduled for May 6-8, with the East Regional being held at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana. Grand Valley State and Ferris State secured team spots, while Hunter joins Brooke Herbstreit from Saginaw Valley State and AJ Powell from Wisconsin-Parkside as individual competitors.

Hunter's season included her first collegiate victory at the Lewis Flyer Invite and a top-six finish at the GLIAC Conference Championships. "We're really excited to get things going," said women's golf coach Ben Johnson. "Maya is a hard-working, driven player who deserves this opportunity. I know she's going to make the most of it."

Last year, Hunter finished T24 individually at the NCAA regional tournament with a 54-hole total of 227, tying for third all-time in program history. She tied for second on par-3 holes with an average of 2.92 strokes and scored -1, alongside eight birdies that placed her T10 individually in the field.

Each regional site will host both team and individual competitions concurrently. The breakdown includes: Central Regional with nine teams and six individuals; East Regional with 15 teams and six individuals; South Regional with 12 teams and six individuals; West Regional also featuring 12 teams and six individuals.

All participants will compete over three rounds totaling 54 holes. Advancing to the championships are the top three teams from central regionals, five each from south, west, and east regionals along with the top two individuals not on advancing teams.

The championship event is set for May 21-25 at Orange County National Golf Center in Orlando, Florida, where a total of 98 participants will compete in the finals.
