After a notable performance at the regional competition, Northern Michigan University (NMU) sophomore Madi Szymanski has secured an at-large selection to participate in the NCAA Championships. The event is scheduled for November 18 in Joplin, Missouri.

Szymanski achieved a personal milestone by finishing 12th in the Midwest region with a time of 20:55.83, surpassing her previous best and setting a new school record. Her performance marked over a 40-second improvement from her earlier season best of 21:36.3 at the Lewis Crossover. During the race, Szymanski was in sixth place after one mile and eighth at the halfway mark, earning her All-Region honors.

This selection marks only the second time an NMU individual has received an at-large bid to the championships, with the first occurrence dating back to 1999. The Wildcats last participated as a team in 2017.
