The Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's golf team secured a second-place finish at the recent competition in Perry Park, Kentucky. The team delivered an impressive performance over the weekend, improving their standing from third to second place.
The 'Cats began with an opening round score of 332 and significantly improved in the second round with a score of 312. Their total score of 644 was enough to surpass UPike, which finished third with a score of 645. Ashland took first place with a combined score of 615.
Individually, Maya Hunter led NMU by finishing as the second-best player on the field. She recorded scores of 78 and 74 in her two rounds, totaling 152 for the weekend. Hunter finished behind Paramore from Ashland, who scored a total of 147.
Hailey Bolander followed Hunter's performance for NMU with scores of 83 and 79, totaling 162. Annie Pietila and Payton Dube both posted scores of 166 each. Dube notably improved her game in the second round by reducing her initial score by twelve strokes, recording rounds of 89 and then an impressive 77.
Gabriella Moreau completed NMU's lineup with a total score of 181 over the weekend.
Looking ahead, NMU will compete next at the Lewis Flyer Spring Invite in Wheaton, Illinois from April 5th to April 6th.
