Northern Michigan University's athletic teams have a busy schedule ahead, with events spanning from March 19 to March 24, 2024.
The men's and women's Nordic ski teams will participate in the SuperTour Finals and Spring National Championships starting Thursday, March 21. Their season concludes this weekend with these events in Duluth, Minnesota.
The women's lacrosse team recently returned from a spring-break trip to St. Joseph, Missouri, where they played three games. They won two of those matches but fell short against Rockhurst with a close score of 12-11 after leading early in the fourth quarter. Minnie Bittell and Kaitlyn Bridger were key players during this trip. The Wildcats improved their overall record to 7-2 and will play at Walsh University on Friday, March 22, followed by a match at Ashland University on Sunday.
The men's and women's golf teams are set to compete in the Klash in Kentucky this weekend at Perry Park Golf Resort. The women's team had an impressive finish earlier this season, securing second place at the Sea Trails Invitational. Maya Hunter excelled at the SVSU Invite, finishing in the T10 position. Eric Yun led the men's team with a T23 finish during their last event.
Henriette Nilssen led NMU's women's Nordic ski team during recent NCAA Skiing Championships events, while Kristoffer Karsrud was prominent for the men's team. The championships included both freestyle and mass start classic races.
