The Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's golf team achieved a significant victory at the Perry Park Golf Resort during the Klash in Kentucky event. The team secured first place with a weekend score of 611, maintaining a 17-stroke lead after the first round. Quincy finished second with a score of 618, followed by Asbury in third place with 630.
Russel Sprecher led NMU to success by claiming individual gold. He recorded the best opening-round score of 73 and followed it up with a 76, finishing one stroke ahead of his teammate Arthur Ylitalo. Ylitalo ended tied for second individually with Sturges from Asbury, both scoring 150.
Other notable performances from NMU included Eric Yun, who scored 154, and Walter Ylitalo, who scored 158. Brady Badker and Tyler Annala rounded out NMU's scores with 165 and 173 respectively.
Looking ahead, the NMU team will compete at the Lewis Flyer Spring Invite at Cantigny Golf Club in Romeoville, Illinois on April 5th and April 6th.
