The Northern Michigan University men's golf team completed their participation in the SVSU Spring Invite at Kearney Hill Golf Links, finishing in 14th place. The team moved down one spot from their position after the first round.
The 'Cats ended with a total score of +24 (600), trailing Kentucky State University by four strokes and leading host Saginaw Valley by one. Throughout the tournament, they played par 3s at +27 (3.68 average), par 4s at +27 (4.27 average), and performed strongly on par 5s with a -18 (4.55 average), ranking fifth among competitors.
The team recorded 97 pars, 24 birdies, and achieved three eagles, which was the second-highest in the field.
Eric Yun scored rounds of 72 and 74, finishing at +2 (146) and tied for 23rd individually. He secured three birdies, including two on par 4s and one on the par 5 seventh hole. Yun also eagled the 18th hole twice during the weekend. His performance on par 4s was even, placing him sixth among individuals, while his play on par 5s was -4.
Russel Sprecher followed with scores of 73 and 77 for a total of 150, tying for 49th place. Sprecher led the team with six birdies, had the second-most pars with twenty, and played par 5s at -2 over the weekend.
Tyler Annala (+8: rounds of 74 and 78 - total of 152) and Arthur Ylitalo (+9: rounds of 77 and 76 - total of 153) were next for NMU, tying for positions T65 and T75 respectively. Both Annala and Arthur were four under on par fives; Arthur matched Sprecher's twenty pars while Annala equaled Sprecher’s six birdies. Arthur also eagled the third hole.
Walter Ylitalo (+11: rounds of 76 and 79 - total of 155) and Brady Badker (+11: rounds of 76 and 79 - total of155) concluded NMU's participation tied for T88.
