Northern Michigan University's men's soccer team is set for a busy week, hosting St. Cloud State on Wednesday and Roosevelt University on Sunday at their home field in Marquette, Michigan.

The Wildcats are looking to avenge a recent loss to St. Cloud State, the current leaders of the GLIAC. The Huskies scored a late goal in their last encounter about a week ago. St. Cloud State ranks third in the region and is receiving votes in the national poll. They are also ranked fifth nationally for scoring offense, with Philip Caputo standing out as he is ranked third for total goals this season.

Roosevelt University will be making its first appearance against Northern Michigan's team this weekend. The Lakers are currently fourth in the conference with an overall record of 3-1-2 and 1-1 in the GLIAC.

The Wildcats will face off against the Huskies on Wednesday, October 2, at 2 p.m., followed by their match against the Lakers on Sunday, October 6, at 3 p.m.

Alex Fatovic provided insights into his team's performance so far this season:

"The Wildcats are 4-2-1 with three shutouts in the first four games of the season."

"The 'Cats have found success at home this season, holding a 2-1-1 record."

Alessandro Scialanga leads Northern Michigan in points (8), goals (3), and assists (2). Tuen Van Gansewinkel leads the GLIAC in shot accuracy and is second in shots on goal per game. Tommaso Lami ranks second in shots per game and third in shots on goal per game.

Scialanga has played nearly every minute of the season with 628 minutes logged. Quint Van Roij follows closely behind with 621 minutes played.

Goalkeeper Nils Cedergreen has started every game this season and leads the conference with a GAA of 0.857 and three shutouts.

Seven different players have scored for Northern Michigan throughout their first seven games of the season. The Wildcats lead several statistical categories within GLIAC including shots per game, corner kicks per game, save percentage, team goals against average, and shutout percentage.

St. Cloud State enters Wednesday's match leading the conference with an overall record of 5-2 and an undefeated GLIAC record of 3-0. They are currently enjoying a five-game win streak which has propelled them to third place in Midwest DII men's soccer poll rankings from being previously unranked.

Philip Caputo leads St. Cloud State with nine goals and four assists totaling 22 points; he was recently named GLIAC Offensive Player of Week after recording his second hat trick along with an assist over last weekend’s matches.

Defender Noah Eklund earned GLIAC Defender of Week honors while senior Mika Folstad stands second to Caputo regarding points scored at ten points total.

Starting goalkeeper Ramy Atia faced twenty shots recently setting his personal best for this season saving four attempts successfully.
