The Northern Michigan cross country team secured 8th place out of 24 teams at the Roy Griak Invite in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Friday. The event saw over 300 runners participating.
Madi Szymanski, a participant in last year's NCAA championship, led the Northern Michigan team with a time of 23:41.0, finishing in 20th place. Sophomore Dani Van Lente followed closely, securing 26th place with a time of 24:00.5.
Two other Wildcats finished within the top-50: Gianna Hoving placed 32nd with a time of 24:08.5, and Lamar Gordon took 50th place with a time of 24:29.9.
Skylar Grubb and Celia Wallace also made it into the top-100, finishing in 87th and 94th places with times of 25:09.2 and 25:23.1, respectively.
Augustana University claimed first place as a team, followed by the University of Mary as runner-ups and Winona State University in third place. Alyssa Becker from the University of Mary was the front runner with a time of 21:54.5.

Next weekend, Northern Michigan will compete at the Lucian Rosa Invite hosted by the University of Wisconsin - Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
