State Rep. Cam Cavitt, R-Cheboygan, released a statement Tuesday following the announcement that the Viking Energy biomass plant in Lincoln will be closing permanently. Last week, workers were informed that June 7 would be their last day of employment.

“If you know anyone who is now unemployed because of this closure, please encourage them to reach out to my office. We have resources and connections available to help people through the unemployment process,” Cavitt said. “For those who lost their jobs, you do not have to go through this alone. Northeast Michigan is one big community. Please know that community is 100% behind you now.”

Anyone seeking assistance can call Cavitt’s office at 517-373-0833 or email at [email protected].
