Minnie Bittell receives second-consecutive GLIAC Commissioner's Award for excellence

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Minnie Bittell of Northern Michigan lacrosse has been named a recipient of the Spring GLIAC Commissioner's Award, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

The awards are presented after the Fall, Winter, and Spring athletic seasons to six female and six male student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. All grade-point averages are based on a 4.0 scale. Bittell maintained a 3.62 GPA and graduated this spring with a major in Public Relations & Spanish and a minor in Accounting.

Bittell concluded her career with an outstanding final season, leading the GLIAC in all major offensive categories. Nationally, she ranked eighth in total goals (72) and shots (157), tenth in total points (108) and shots per game (8.35), eleventh in goals per game (3.79), and fourteenth in points per game (5.68). This performance earned her a second consecutive GLIAC Commissioner's Award.

Over her collegiate career, Bittell played 72 games, recording 219 goals, 97 assists, 316 points, 488 shots, 373 shots on goal, 11 game-winning goals, 104 ground balls, 46 caused turnovers, and 350 draw controls.

Bittell joins Maria Storm and Brooke Pietila (women's soccer), Makaylee Kuhn (women's basketball), and Camilla Carbone (women's swimming and diving) as NMU athletes who have received this award during the current school year.
