Rep. Bergman Announces FEMA Window for Assistance to Firefighters Grant Applications

Mar 14, 2024

Today, Rep. Bergman announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) window has opened for fire departments to submit applications for their Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program. "The application period for FEMA’s 2024 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program has opened and will close on April 12, 2024, at 5 p.m. ET," stated Rep. Bergman.

Furthermore, Rep. Bergman has been actively supporting fire departments in the district by submitting letters of support for their Assistance to Firefighters Grant applications. "Over the past few weeks, Rep. Bergman has written and submitted many letters of support for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant applications filed by fire departments across the district – including Dafter Township, Hudson Township, Baraga Township, and Keweenaw Bay," emphasized Rep. Bergman.

The SAFER Grant Program offers $360 million in grants directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations to help them increase or maintain the number of trained firefighters protecting communities across the Nation. Fire departments interested in applying can find the FY 2023 SAFER Notice of Funding opportunity and technical assistance documents on www.grants.gov and the FEMA website.

For those seeking additional information or assistance with the application process, FEMA will be hosting webinars to support applicants. Details about these webinars can be found on the FEMA website.

Should there be any inquiries or questions, individuals are encouraged to reach out to Rep. Bergman’s office locations or contact FEMA's Office of External Affairs through the provided contact information.
