How many students were enrolled in Suttons Bay Public Schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 578 students enrolled in Suttons Bay Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.5% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.9% of them were girls, and 48.1% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 62.8% of the Suttons Bay Public Schools total enrollment.

Suttons Bay Public Schools covers three schools within Leelanau County with its main office in Suttons Bay. Among them, Suttons Bay Elementary Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of 236 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
