There were 2,793 students enrolled in Gaylord Community Schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 2,793 students enrolled in Gaylord Community Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.7% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.8% of them were boys, and 48.2% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 90.7% of the Gaylord Community Schools total enrollment.

Gaylord Community Schools covers five schools within Otsego County with its main office in Gaylord. Among them, Gaylord High School/Vocational Building recorded the highest enrollment of 961 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
