Enrollment at Posen Consolidated School District No. 9 increased by 2.9% compared to previous school year

There were 216 students enrolled in Posen Consolidated School District No. 9 in the 2022-23 school year, 2.9% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.4% of them were girls, and 48.6% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 96.3% of the Posen Consolidated School District No. 9 total enrollment.

Posen Consolidated School District No. 9 covers two schools within Presque Isle County with its main office in Posen. Among them, Posen Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 112 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
