There were 806 students enrolled in Charlevoix Public Schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 806 students enrolled in Charlevoix Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.2% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.2% of them were girls, and 49.8% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 88.0% of the Charlevoix Public Schools total enrollment.

Charlevoix Public Schools covers two schools within Charlevoix County with its main office in Charlevoix. Among them, Charlevoix Middle High School recorded the highest enrollment of 408 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
