Enrollment at Mancelona Public Schools increased by 3.7% compared to previous school year

There were 863 students enrolled in Mancelona Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.7% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.5% of them were boys, and 47.5% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 94.7% of the Mancelona Public Schools total enrollment.

Mancelona Public Schools covers three schools within Antrim County with its main office in Mancelona. Among them, Mancelona Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 328 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
