Bellaire Public Schools welcomed 263 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 263 students enrolled in Bellaire Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 12% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.2% of them were girls, and 46.8% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 93.9% of the Bellaire Public Schools total enrollment.

Bellaire Public Schools covers two schools within Antrim County with its main office in Bellaire. Among them, Bellaire Middle-High School recorded the highest enrollment of 150 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
