Representative Jack Bergman has expressed his deep discontent with the United States Postal Service's (USPS) decision to indefinitely postpone a scheduled public input meeting for the Mail Processing Facility Review (MPFR) of the Iron Mountain Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) in Kingsford, MI. Bergman's office has received numerous concerns from citizens and businesses in the Upper Peninsula regarding the proposed changes at the facility.

In a letter addressed to USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, Bergman highlighted the lack of notice provided by the USPS regarding the postponement. He stated, "USPS's failure to provide adequate notice of postponement at the very least is utterly unacceptable, and frankly, unbecoming of a federal agency. I should not be notified of the postponement by a concerned citizen before USPS itself."

Bergman also emphasized the inconvenience caused to attendees who had made arrangements to attend the meeting. Many individuals had taken time off work or planned to leave early to participate in the public input session. The sudden postponement, less than twenty-four hours before the scheduled meeting, disregarded the efforts made by these expectant attendees.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, Bergman urged the USPS to reschedule the public input meeting promptly. He deemed the USPS's notice on February 7, stating that the meeting would be rescheduled at a new venue within the next several weeks, insufficient. Bergman requested that his office be included in future discussions regarding the rescheduling of the meeting.

The indefinite postponement of the public input meeting has left citizens and businesses in the Upper Peninsula without an opportunity to voice their concerns directly to the USPS. Bergman's letter serves as a reminder to the USPS of the importance of transparency and effective communication in engaging with the public.

The USPS has yet to respond to Bergman's letter or provide a new date for the rescheduled meeting.
