Rep. Jack Bergman, along with Speaker Mike Johnson and other Republican colleagues, visited the Southern Border in Eagle Pass, Texas, to witness the crisis firsthand. Bergman emphasized that President Biden has not provided the necessary resources for the Border Patrol to effectively carry out their duties. He called on the U.S. Senate to pass H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, immediately.

"The time for talk is far behind us - we must immediately secure our Southern Border. We must ensure that those wishing to come here legally have a path to do so and that those seeking to come here illegally are stopped," said Rep. Bergman.

Bergman further criticized the Biden Administration for its negligence in fulfilling its duty to the American people. His visit to the border only reaffirmed the dangers posed by President Biden's policies and their impact on national security.

The situation at the Southern Border is alarming. In FY2023, Border Patrol confiscated enough fentanyl to potentially kill the entire U.S. population. Additionally, in the month of December alone, over 225,000 migrants were encountered along the border.

The urgency to address this crisis cannot be overstated. The Southern Border must be secured to protect the safety and well-being of the American people. Rep. Bergman's update from the Southern Border provides a firsthand account of the challenges faced by Border Patrol agents.

It is essential that the U.S. Senate takes immediate action and passes the Secure the Border Act to ensure the necessary resources are allocated to address this crisis effectively. The American public deserves a secure and orderly immigration system that upholds the rule of law.
