In a bid to restore stability and unity within the Republican Party, Representative Jack Bergman (MI-01) has signed a pledge to support the Republican Speaker Designate following Conference voting. Moreover, he has strongly encouraged his fellow colleagues to join him in signing the pledge.

Bergman emphasized the importance of the Republican majority in leading the nation and halting what he perceives as dangerous policies under the Biden administration. He stated, "The American people elected a Republican majority to lead our Nation, put a stop to Biden's dangerous policies, and to protect our way of life."

Expressing concern over the recent lack of progress due to the absence of a Speaker of the House, Bergman called for collaborative efforts among Republicans. He urged, "When we come out of Conference with our Speaker Designate, every single Republican must work together to elect them as Speaker and get our government back on track."

Bergman's decision to run for Speaker of the House came after Representative Jim Jordan withdrew from the race. The pledge he signed aligns with his consistent voting history for Speaker on the floor. Bergman has previously voted for Rep. Jim Jordan, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, and was prepared to vote for Rep. Steve Scalise when he held the position of Speaker Designate.
