Wexford County Education: Which school had most students enrolled in 2022-23 school year?

Highpoint Virtual Academy of MIchigan had the highest enrollment among Wexford County schools, welcoming 2,308 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were girls, and 49% were boys.

The most represented ethnicity among Highpoint Virtual Academy of MIchigan students was white, accounting for 49.9% of the student population.

Among the 14 schools in Wexford County, Cadillac Senior High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 907 students, while Mackinaw Trail Middle School welcomed 750 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Highpoint Virtual Academy of MIchigan is part of Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan, which roughly covers schools within Wexford County, with its main office in Mesick.

In the previous school year, Highpoint Virtual Academy of MIchigan also had the highest number of students among Wexford County schools.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, with white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps have widened. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
