Recently, Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) and Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) introduced the bipartisan DoD PFAS Cleanup Transparency Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. This legislation would require the Secretary of Defense to publicly publish timely and regularly updated information on the status of the cleanup of PFAS-contaminated sites.
Rep. Jack Bergman stated, "We've made major progress on PFAS remediation over the past several years, and this legislation is an important avenue to ensure transparency so that the public is kept aware of the progress being made."
"This bi-partisan legislation will provide important information to communities like Oscoda, Grayling and other impacted military base communities across the country,” said Tony Spaniola, of Need Our Water (NOW) -- Oscoda and the Great Lakes PFAS Action Network. “We urge Congress to act swiftly to pass this legislation, and we commend Congressman Bergman and Congresswoman Slotkin for their leadership on this issue.”
