The City of Taylor has received a 2022 Project of the Year Award from the American Public Works Association (APWA) for the Superior Parkway Reconstruction Project.
This rebuilt section of Superior Parkway (Pardee to Telegraph) was originally constructed in 1998 as a Class A road with an expected design life of 30 years. Unfortunately, this segment of roadway was severely compromised by Alkali-Aggregate Reaction (ASR), and began to display signs of failure within a few years of installation.
The City has been attempting to make improvements through concrete panel replacement to the roadway for the past several years, but it was beyond maintenance repairs.
As a result, the decision was made to completely reconstruct this segment of roadway, and take advantage of very favorable prices offered by the current vendor for the concrete replacement program.
The project was funded by the City of Taylor’s Tax Increment Finance Authority.
