This year the Library is joining the #GreatLakes1Million challenge, an effort led by Great Lakes Great Responsibility to remove 1 million pieces of trash from the Great Lakes Basin. You can participate by cleaning up trash in your neighborhood or at a local beach or park, counting how many pieces you remove (we recommend counting as you go!) and then reporting your data in Beanstack under the Community Clean Up activity badge. On July 23, we will add up everyone's totals and report the data to Great Lakes, Great Responsibility! Keeping trash out of waterways is important for wildlife and water health and is an easy way to be a good steward and caretaker of our environment. How many pieces do you think you can remove? Set a goal for yourself!
Download the Libby app and log in using your Library card to choose a FREE audiobook to listen to while you work! Don't forget that time spent listening to an audiobook - alone or as a family - counts towards your daily reading goal and our 200,000 minute community reading goal!
You can contribute to the #GreatLakes1Million challenge after summer is over by entering your trash cleanup data at www.greatlakeslove.org!
