Vacancy Notice

The City is seeking an experienced interim police chief due to the retirement of the current police chief, after 46 years of service with the City. The Police Department has a budget of $1.2 million, with a chief, a sergeant, and seven officers. The City is seeking a professional police chief with demonstrated experienced in training and development of “newer” officers and the engagement and retention of the more “seasoned” veterans. The culture of policing has changed in our country and the City is seeking a police chief that can facilitate a community centered approach to achieving the Mayor’s, City Council’s, and the City Manager’s aggressive goals for the Department. The ideal candidate shall be willing to perform a variety of tasks typical when being a chief in a small town.  The chosen candidate will be provided a one-year contract with the possibility of a longer tenure with excellent evaluations.
