"This past Saturday, 11 Benzie Central Huskies represented our region at the State Science Olympiad Tournament at Michigan State University. This STEM competition features over 25 events ranging from chemistry labs, to biology quizzes, to engineering tasks requiring the construction of catapults, airplanes, or other complex machines. Our team went against the best-of-the-best in Michigan, and seniors Allie Barker and Hannah Markey both made the podium for the "Forensics" event - a complex challenge that requires students to identify powders, polymers, fibers, blood, and fingerprints to solve a fictional crime.
Overall, the team improved greatly from the last in-person appearance at the state tournament in 2019. Our seven graduating seniors should be extremely proud of their achievements over the years - they have certainly left their mark!"
