Alpena Public Schools issued the following announcement on Apr 6.

There are three options for families that would like to enroll a Kindergarten student at Alpena Public Schools for the Fall 2022 school year. Current APS Junior Kindergarten students do not need to enroll; you will be automatically enrolled for Kindergarten. 

1. Families can enroll in person during business hours by making an appointment with Jeana Bellanger at Alpena Public Schools Central Office at 2373 Gordon Road. For an appointment contact her at (989) 358 5015 or bellangerj@alpenaschools.com
2. You can enroll your student online at www.alpenaschools.com by scrolling down and clicking on the Enrollment Information link and following the instructions on the enrollment page. Documentation can be uploaded or hard copies provided to the school at a later date. 
3. Families can join us for a special evening being held at each elementary school. Dates and details are listed below.

Enroll your child, take a building tour, take a photo of your child for "Kindergarten Signing Day!",take home a school readiness activity bag and enjoy light refreshments. Drop in to any of the elementary events from 5 PM and 6:30 PM

• Ella White Elementary 201 N. Ripley Blvd. Alpena Thursday, April 14th
• Lincoln Elementary 309 W. Lake St. Alpena Tuesday, April 19th
• Wilson Elementary 4999 Herron Rd. Herron Thursday, April 21st
• Sanborn Elementary  12170 US-23 Ossineke Monday, April 25th
• Hinks Elementary 7667 US-23 Alpena Tuesday, April 26th
• Besser Elementary 375 Wilson St. Alpena Thursday, April 28th

*To be eligible for enrollment in Junior Kindergarten or Kindergarten your child must be 5 on or before September 1, 2022. If your child will turn 5 after September 1st but prior to December 1st, an age waiver is required.

What to bring with you:

• Legal Birth Certificate from State where child was born (from the Court house)
• Proof of Residency (utility Bill, mortgage/rent receipt, updated driver's license)
• Custody Agreement (if applicable) 
• Immunization record or waiver (Does not need to be complete at enrollment)
• Vision Screening (if completed) Must be from after March 1st, 2022
• Dental Screening (if completed) Must be from after March 1st, 2022
