City of Taylor issued the following announcement on Feb 28.
“Up Close and Personal,” a series of shows featuring Taylor’s leaders, has been introduced to the City’s video schedule. The first guest is City Councilwoman Angie Winton, who has served as a member of City Council since February 2019.
The show is currently running on YouTube and the City’s municipal cable channels on Wow and Comcast. You can watch it on cablecast at 11 a.m. each morning, as well as other times during the day.
Winton was first appointed to council due to a vacancy when then-Chairman Alex Garza was elected to the State House of Representatives. She was elected to a new four-year term – her first as a truly elected official– in November 2021.
She is the head of human resources at The Senior Alliance, and is also the president and founder of Metro Detroit Share, a 501c3 non-profit that helps families who have endured the loss of a baby during pregnancy or infancy.
Angie recently gave a speech in front of the Rotary Club of Taylor. We taped that presentation, and an edited down version is included in our video presentation.
Angie is one of seven members of the City Council, the legislative branch of municipal government. The seven-member board is elected at large and serves a four-year term, running bi-monthly meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of month. All meetings are open to the public.
We hope this series of shows help you to better understand Taylor elected leaders. The series is less about policies and politics, and more about each guest’s personal history.
