Happy winter solstice!

Md zu720kla0nej

Betsie Valley District Library issued the following announcement on Dec 21.

Happy winter solstice!

Today marks the first day of the winter season for those in the northern hemisphere. The winter solstice is the day with the least amount of daylight of the year. Because of the earth's tilt away from the sun, Sleeping Bear Dunes will have under nine hours of daylight today. Starting tomorrow, every day will have more daylight until the summer solstice in June.

For many, the winter solstice marks the start of the new year. It is a time of reflection and planning for the future.

Do your upcoming plans include Sleeping Bear Dunes?
