City Commission Meeting Highlights Nov. 23

City of Boyne City issued the following announcement on Nov 25.

Here are highlights of actions taken by the Boyne City Commission Tuesday, Nov. 23:

> This was not an agenda item, but staff was directed to find ways to survey community opinions about expanding, repairing and upgrading the city marina. The Commission will also hold a meeting to review a federal grant proposal that is being developed by city staff and consultants. That meeting date and time will be posted.

9C. Awarded a contract to Spence Brothers to complete upgrades to the River Mouth Pump Station for the low bid price of $547,000.

9D. Authorized changing the Municipal Standard for the City of Boyne City to include the option of using CTS plastic for service lines as an alternative copper.

9E. Approved a proclamation of support of Water and Wastewater Professionals Workforce Week.

9F. Approved an airport hangar lease extension to Allen Sturza thru January 1, 2037.

9G. Approved the Main Street’s Board’s employment of Jordan Peck as the new Boyne City Main Street Executive Director.

9H. Approved the recommendation of the Planning Commission to approve the adoption of the future land use master plan amendment.

9I. Awarded a contract for three erosion control projects to MDC Contracting, LLC of Charlevoix in an amount not-to-exceed $248,952.

9J. Provided input on winter season sidewalk snow removal procedures in advance of a letter being distributed by Main Street.

9K. Authorized staff to make arrangements for Michigan Municipal League Training for City Commission members and staff.

9L. Approved a recommendation from Police Chief Kevin Spate to purchase three ballistic shields at a cost of $9,122 with some of this amount to be covered by donations.

9M. Approved the City Commission 2022 Meeting Calendar / FYE 2022 Budget Schedule. Regular meetings will continue to be held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month except November at 7 p.m. and the 4th Tuesday of each month except December at 12 p.m. with all meetings to be held at Boyne City City Hall. It was noted that noon meetings will be changed to evening meetings when high-interest items are on the agenda.

9N. Committee assignments were discussed, with Commission members indicating which committees and commissions they were interested in serving on. This issue will be revisited in the future.
