Alpena Public Schools issued the following announcement on Nov 11.

#ThrowbackThursday looks at the McPhee School, built in 1911 at a cost of $27,506.  The school was located on Lincoln between 4th and 5th Ave.  It was considered the "most modern building in the city to date" with lights, ventilation, and adjustable desks.

In 1929,  two more rooms, a gym, and a stage were added for $28,816.  There was a fire in 1941 that was thankfully caught in time.

McPhee closed in 1974 due to a decline in students. #alpenarising #bettertogether
