Alpena Public Schools issued the following announcement on Oct 21.
Alpena High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Laura Dubey as its new Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. Dubey has been coaching on and off at Alpena for the last 20 years. She has been a teacher at APS for 19 years. Dubey played basketball at ACC and attended Atlanta High School. While working with young athletes, Dubey has acquired many skills such as motivation, relationship building, and knowing how to celebrate wins and learn from losses. Dubey is not only organized and knows how to structure a well developed practice plan, but also leads by example and will build the Girls Basketball Program to its fullest potential.
“AHS Athletics is thrilled to have someone who understands students, believes in students and believes in what athletics can provide for a student" said Studley, “Coach Dubey has a great vision for what she wants our basketball program to achieve and her dedication, knowledge, and desire will help us reach these goals. Our student-athletes will benefit greatly from her leadership.”
Dubey said, “I am excited to be the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. I can’t wait to see what this season brings. My goal is to come and work hard everyday, to improve the program as a whole and build a program. I am looking forward to a great season and working with exceptional athletes”
