Michigan Convention of States has issued the following press release:

On Saturday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m., in a free event that’s open to the public, the Michigan Convention of States (MI COS) team  will present at the Benzie County Eagles.

Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 10-11:30 a.m.

Benzie County Eagles 71 Lake St., Frankfort, MI 49635

Mark Smith and the COS Team will lead a discussion concerning the Convention of States organization, sharing his experience as a grassroots patriot, and how you can get involved in the movement too. Also at the meeting will be Sen. Curt VanderWall and Rep. Jack O’Malley.

Article V of the US Constitution grants state legislatures the right to call a Convention of States. Convention of States Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging states to stand up and curtail the runaway power of the federal government. The organization gives us, as concerned citizens, the opportunity to demand change.

This opportunity is exactly what drew Mark Smith to the Michigan chapter of COS Action.

“I was not happy with the direction our country had taken the past several years. To me America had always been the land of opportunity, a land where failure was not fatal. One could start over or do different things as economic conditions and opportunities changed. America represents the land of opportunity where our Freedoms should remain vested in We the People as intended by our Founding Fathers. In 1991, I was able to start a chemical company with my two partners, something that now would be very difficult, if not impossible, because of the regulations imposed unnecessarily by the federal government in Washington DC.”

You can also become involved by signing the petition for Michigan’s state legislature to support a Convention of States. Some of Mark’s reasons for doing so was the belief that the country needs to return power to We the People as mandated in our Constitution, restore the balance between States rights and Federal rights, and restore belief in God.

We have lost faith in God and our election system, and both must be restored. The career politicians/bureaucrats liberals are opposed to common sense voting requirements such as voter ID and a clean chain of custody for our sacred vote. Instead, we see a rejection of voter ID in favor of mass mailings of mail-in ballots, which has and will continue to undermine our election integrity.

Mark also says it’s time for the career politicians/bureaucrats/judges to go. We can use our Constitution to fix our Constitution and Country as allowed in Article V.

Mark and the COS organization share many hopes and concerns, especially those about the federal government. The Convention of States organization aims to limit the federal government in three ways: 1) make common-sense restrictions to federal spending, 2) give stolen power back to the states, and 3) impose federal term limits to the career politicians, bureaucrats and judges.

As a representative of MI COS, Mark hopes that his town hall will strengthen his abilities to articulate his convictions and bring more people together for this cause. So far, the organization’s resolution has passed in 15 states and is close to passing in several others; 34 states must pass identical applications to create an amending “Convention.” When an amendment is proposed, 38 states will need to ratify any changes to the Constitution for them to become law.

If Mark’s words ring true to you, you may just be a grassroots patriot waiting for an opportunity. Please contact Mark Smith to RSVP or to ask any questions. His email address is mark.smith@cosaction.com and his phone number is (715) 218-8211.
