City of Taylor issued the following announcement on July 16.
A second Citywide Rummage Sale is being scheduled for August, and about a month later, a Fall Shred Day has been added to the calendar, as well.
The second citywide garage sale is scheduled for Friday, August 20, through Sunday, August 29. This will again enable participants to have two full weekends of garage sales, should weather be a problem during one of the weekends. No permit is required to hold your garage sale during this time only.
During this period take note of the following:
- Residents hosting sales should hold them in open areas, preferably outside
- Common spots, like display tables, should be constantly cleaned
- Residents hosting sales on their property should provide disposal containers, lined in plastic bags, that can be easily sealed and disposed of, during and after their events
- Keep any advertising signage for your sale out of public right-of-ways, or easements.
Property owners will be required to use any available free dump privileges or pay the cost to dispose of any unwanted items. No commercial dumping is permitted. No explosives, autos and auto parts, boats, concrete, hazardous waste, compost materials, tree branches, or tires will be accepted.
Meanwhile, the free fall shred day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, September 18, at the City Hall campus, Goddard Road at Pine Street. To participate, you must be in line by 12:45 p.m.
One or two small boxes will be accepted per vehicle. This is an onsite shredding program and is completely secure.
Things that can or should be shredded are documents with confidential information; and documents that could lead to theft or cause harm, etc. Bank and credit statements, canceled checks, credit cards, white ledger paper and envelopes, manila folders and hanging file folders will be accepted.
Newspaper, plastic, cardboard, bleached paper (bright colors), magazines, CDs, VHS tapes and DVDs are not acceptable.
