Northern Lakes Community Mental Health issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.

Houghton Lake Office Temporarily Closed Due to COVID-19

Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Authority (NLCMHA) has temporarily closed its Houghton Lake office through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend due to a positive COVID-19 exposure. Individuals with a scheduled appointment in Houghton Lake this week will be contacted to determine if the appointment may be held via telehealth or telephone, or be rescheduled or, if medically necessary, in-person at another location in the community. Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis in the Houghton Lake area is asked to call the 24/7 Crisis Line at 833-295-0616 and not physically go to the Houghton Lake office at this time. The NLCMHA offices in Grayling, Cadillac, and Traverse City remain open this week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The building has been deep cleaned and all staff are working remotely at this time.

In addition, mental health resources remain available for anyone in the community with no change (and no charge):

24/7 Crisis Services are available to anyone and everyone, all the time, including weekends and holidays at 833-295-0616.

During business hours, anyone experiencing increased stress, anxiety or depression due to the COVID-19 pandemic who wishes to talk to someone may call the NLCMHA Warm Line at 800-492-5742.

Anyone in the community may also utilize the myStrength health and wellness app by downloading the application on a smart phone, or logging in on-line at www.myStrength.com and using the free access code NLCMHcommunity.
