Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced that the Alpena County Regional Airport will receive financial relief from the CARES Act.
The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, part of a $2 trillion stimulus package passed by the U.S. Congress, will offer relief to eligible businesses and organizations for the economic impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had in the nation, according to The Alpena News.
The Alpena County Regional Airport received a grant from the CARES Act, which is helping airports that have suffered severe economic impact from the pandemic.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every business sector — big and small — across Michigan, and these grants will provide much-needed resources to help airports across the state weather this public health crisis and be prepared when more people resume air travel,” Whitmer said in a statement, according to True North Radio Network. “I want to thank our congressional leaders for securing this critical funding.”
Over 90 airports in Michigan will be receiving $256 million in grant funding from the CARES Act, according to The Alpena News.
