State Rep. Cam Cavitt is reaching out to tax filers in Northeast Michigan, offering assistance to those encountering issues with state tax filings. Cavitt's office is prepared to aid individuals facing delays in receiving their state tax returns or those who have inquiries about new tax regulations.
"Tax filing season can be confusing, especially for people who don’t have time to spend dozens of hours figuring out what they are and are not eligible for," expressed Cavitt. "My office can assist people in securing their returns on time and better understanding tax credits and other details of tax law."
Cavitt is also recommending individuals to take advantage of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Free File program, which allows eligible taxpayers to file using free tax software. He highlighted that taxpayers, including active-duty military, with an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $79,000 or less are qualified to file taxes with an IRS Free File provider.
For those in need of federal tax return assistance, Cavitt suggests reaching out to Congressman Jack Bergman at 202-225-4735.
Cavitt represents the 106th House District, encompassing the Northern Michigan counties of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, Presque Isle, and portions of both Oscoda and Cheboygan. Individuals seeking assistance can contact Cavitt's office by phone at (517) 373-0833 or via email at [email protected].
